Will U Marry Me?

The client's brief was for a unique tin to ask his partner to marry him. He asked for it to depict all the places they had travelled to and an Italian landscape. I started with a sketch of the idea which the client approved before proceeding to the tin work.

The ring was to be placed in the trunk at the front of the piece. This was a lovely commissions as I had already made a tin for the couple when they had first started dating. These images show the process of making a tin.

Juggling Fish Wedding Gift

“After a twenty year relationship it was hard to think of a unique wedding gift for my son’s godmother.  Kate’s work was the perfect solution, so I commissioned a piece.  Kate is so approachable and made the whole process friendly and fun. She took on board exactly what I was trying to convey and I was very proud to present my gift, helping me to show just how much the couple and the wedding meant to me.”

I emailed Kate with a list of things that were important to the couple, to be incorporated:

  • Cycling

  • Life is a juggle between Manhattan and Long Island

  • Groom was originally dutch & football was important!

  • Their favourite wine label

  • Bride’s maiden name is a species of fish

The bride and groom’s reaction:

“A special thank you for the most original and fun gift (by far)! It is so perfect - conceptually and aesthetically - and immediately found a permanent home in our kitchen on Long Island.  Everyone comments on it!”

60th Birthday Kitchen Piece

This piece was commissioned for a 60th birthday, the brief being that the client's husband loves cooking and gardening and wanted a piece of work to celebrate both of those things.

Client's comment: "I love its originality and wittiness. it is a real talking piece in our kitchen and gets lots of compliments"

Tin 10th Wedding Anniversary

This piece was commissioned for a 60th birthday, the brief being that the client's husband loves cooking and gardening and wanted a piece of work to celebrate both of those things.

Client's comment: "I love its originality and wittiness. it is a real talking piece in our kitchen and gets lots of compliments"

“Our 10th Wedding anniversary was approaching and I needed something unique and personal in tin – where do you start with that one! A short google later I found Kate, an expert artist working with tin and other metals – Bingo."

"Although 300+ miles apart, Kate worked very closely with me taking notes and preparing and emailing sketches until we agreed on the final piece – again Kate sent progress emails giving me the option to modify wherever I wished – free reign really.

The end result is outstanding and I can’t wait to see the smile on my wife’s face when she opens it.”
